Charcoal Animal Drawings

The subjects of these charcoal pieces are cute animals that live near my home in Massachusetts.

The first piece is of the skeleton of a deer. The task for myself was to use the pose from a living subject and represent what its skeleton would be like using another reference.

The next pieces are a progression from gesture drawings to shaded thumbnails to finished pieces. This process allowed me to explore the references I wanted to use to decide on the final four that I would use for the full-scale drawing.
